Infant and Baby Swim Classes, Parent-Assisted Water Acclimation and Baby Water Survival Skills
Set up your child for a lifetime of safety, fun and fitness by introducing your baby to the water early and safely. This class is the beginning of our SaferSooner program that focuses on early self-rescue skills and parent water safety education. Our Baby Explorer infant swim class is a gentle water acclimation class designed specially for caregivers and babies 6-18 months. Songs and colorful water toys make the class fun and encourage babies to try skills. The class creates special bonding time and memorable experiences. Each guardian/child pair will learn at their own a pace, with no forceful submersions. Teachers even provide a review of the confusing array of floatation devices so that parents can choose the appropriate one for their child at the different stages of learning. Fee includes one guardian and one baby, and follows the private lesson fees. Learn how to safely:
Support and hold babies in the water
Acclimate child to being in water and being comfortable
Teach safe water entries, exits and "wall walking."
Develop the first stage of self-rescue: rolling on the back, and holding the float
Experiment with arm and leg action
Experiment with breath control
Prepare and encourage them to try skills
Avoid accidental water entries
Babies must wear three layers of protection to help guard against water contamination: disposable swim diaper against the skin, a re-usable swim diaper as a second layer, and a bathing suit.
