Assessment Can be In-Person or VirtualThe Home Pool Safety Assessment is available to all home pool or waterfront property owners, and is a required purchase before we can teach in any home pool. This ensures that safety protocols are in place for the family, for our instructor, and that the instructor is familiar with a pool's unique features before the lesson. Ideally, the assessment is scheduled at least five days before the first lesson. If we are teaching at your pool, the safety inspection will be in-person.
We evaluate the pool and recommend strategies for improving safety, taking into account the shape, dimension, depth, deck, unique features and pool location on the property. We recommend site specific safety equipment, signage, pool rules, and everything's proper placement. We provide guidance for an Emergency Action Plan (EAP) so that homeowners can be prepared for accidents, injuries and emergencies. We follow the "Layers of Protection" concept developed by water safety advocates because no one single protective measure keeps a family safe. Instead, it's the layering of multiple protections that helps keep people safe in, on and around water. Watch this video from the National Drowning Prevention Alliance to learn about the five layers of protection that help keep loved ones safe. The delivery of the service "Home Pool Safety Assessment" and the accompanying materials offered during the service is general in nature and not a substitute for or replacement for legal or medical advice. It is the property owner's responsibility to know and to follow local and state building codes and pool codes. We encourage you to confirm any information obtained through this service, review all the information, and implement any guidelines we suggest at your discretion. Even though a homeowner may implement all of the guidelines we suggest, it is still no guarantee that accidents, injuries and/or death will not occur in, on and around your water feature. Required before teaching in any backyard pool. Cost: $99. No expiration if teacher remains the same, and if pool and property remain the same, without changes that could occur after construction or renovation. Renewal after two years with a new teacher: $50. |
