Usually our instructors teach children between the ages of 2 and 10, with guardians present the entire time. We are therefore looking for people with the following qualities: PUNCTUAL, PROFESSIONAL and ENGAGING people who can work AUTONOMOUSLY. Do these qualities describe you? The role of the instructor is to teach children and some adults the basics of swimming, using the LifeCycle Swim School Methodology. The lessons take place in private, residential pools that we rent in Montclair, NJ. Part of the job is setting up teaching supplies and putting them away at the end of the day. We offer paid training at $16 per hour. Once you're teaching, pay fluctuates throughout the workday from $18-$30 per hour, depending on how many students in a class. Pay increases for group classes, as we believe group classes are harder to teach than private classes. There is the possibility of working up to 35 hours per week. I think that this job: *

We also make "house calls." This means that homeowners hire us to come to their own home pool to teach. Because we don't pay to rent these pools, and because you need to travel to these pools, these assignments pay $25-$30p/h, depending on number of students. To accept these assignments you must have a car. We assess the pool for safety before the first lesson, and we provide all of the supplies. These instructors really get to know the families, and it's a lovely experience. Again, you MUST have a car. Would you be interested in these types of shifts? *

Have you ever been certified as a lifeguard - even if it has expired? Most of our teachers must be lifeguard certified by the first class; however there are a few positions at guarded pools and the instructor doesn't need to be LG certified. *

On a separate topic....If you have an active lifeguard certification, or plan on having one by the summer, AND you have at least two years of life guarding experience, would you like to interview to be on our Lifeguard Roster for private lifeguard events? The pay for these events starts at $22 per hour, and usually includes a tip. If your answer is "yes" we invite you to fill out our online LG application. *
